  1. Saute the chopped onion in the butter until soft.
  2. Add the rice and stir for a minute to coat in butter.
  3. Add hot water a ladle at a time, stirring until absorbed, for about 18 minutes.
  4. Stir in the ham and peas in the last few minutes of cooking.
  5. Stir in the parmesan, season and serve creamy.
