  1. Spread a little bechamel on one slice of bread and layer with ham and half the gruyere.
  2. Close the sandwich and fry it in butter on both sides until golden.
  3. Transfer to an oven dish, spread the rest of the bechamel on top and scatter the remaining gruyere.
  4. Bake at 200 C until the cheese is bubbling and golden.
  5. Meanwhile fry the egg until the white is set and the yolk soft.
  6. Top the baked sandwich with the fried egg and serve hot.
